Part 4 Forest Perspective Drawing

The first time I tried to work on my tree drawing, it wasn't very successful as I didn't understand the perspective (especially one as complex as the forest I was using as a reference). I also didn't add much shading (which I felt I could have done to create more depth) and so I tried again.



The second time however, I had a lot more success as I understood the perspective better, and I was able to show where each tree sat in the landscape. I think the saving grace of this piece was the use of charcoal as I was able to create a greater sense of depth using this medium. I am very pleased with the atmosphere of the second piece.

Part 11 - Rendering my room

Using what I have learnt from the perspective exercises, I was successfully able to create interesting compositions. Due to me unhiding some of my files, I had accidentally shown a model I had scrapped Fork could've been clearer Bowl could've been lit a bit better and some of the flames are clipping through the bowl  Had to add more lighting so you could actually see the scene.  I actually really liked this perspective view I decided to use it as one of my final rendered images Wanted to tone down a bit more of the lighting and so I added a roof Whilst I really liked this rendered view, one of my hidden objects appeared in the scene, drawing the focus away from what were meant to be the main focus (the chair and the bowl). Yet, despite this slight blunder, this helped me figure out one of my angles for the finished render. Part 7 - Adding Texture to Objects

Shading was something I found quite difficult during this brief as there was a lot of technical language I did not understand at first. For example, colour ramping and adding nodes. To begin with, I used the photos below to create the texture of my 3D eyeball. Above is the iris roughness map which creates roughness to the iris and helps to add lighting. Above is the eye colour of the iris that I’m going to use. Below are the photos I used for the blood vessels in the cornea: Cornea Subsurface Map Cornea Roughness Map Cornea Mask Cornea Diffuse Map Below I experimented using nodes in the shading section of Blender which was my main challenge. Using Ambient CG I found a texture that I wanted to use. I downloaded the image at 2k to avoid using too much storage but found I only needed to use a few of the files to create the texture, roughness and colour that I wanted and this made it easier to texture the eyeball.      Below is my 3D eyeball without the iris’ colour map or ro...

Sandie Character Sketches

“What’s Behind the Door” “Victorian Ghost Girl” - Final Character Design Sandie character/animation sheet progress First, I started by doing a rough sketch of my character in pencil to get a feel for her anatomy and what details I did and didn’t want to include. Next, I went over the rough sketches in pen. I decided to give the character a button eye, a Lolita/Victoria style frilly dress, and a hat to fit her doll motif. She has long curly hair that is akin to smoke (as she died in a fire) and her design represents how - despite her dying in her 20s - she still looks very youthful and innocent. This is the final version of the turnaround sheet. Sandie shape language Sandie (to show her young/innocent demeanour) is made up of many round shapes.
